Police are seeking a “dangerous” man in relation to a fatal shooting in the Auckland CBD on Thursday night.
A homicide investigation was launched on Friday evening following the death of a man who was critically injured in the shooting on Queen St on Thursday evening.
Police have asked the public for help locating Dariush Talagi, 24, who may be able to assist with its investigation.
“Our message to Daruish would be to hand himself in, or for anyone who sees him to call us immediately,” Detective Senior Sergeant Craig Bolton said.
Talagi, who is considered dangerous, has distinctive facial tattoos.
Anyone who sees Talagi or knows where he is should contact the police on 111.
While there is no wider risk to the public, Bolton said it was important police locate Talagi.
On Friday, following the death in hospital of one of the people who were shot, Bolton said the police focus remained on finding the person responsible.
“Today [Friday], he was taken off life support and sadly succumbed to his injuries with family beside him.”
“This is a tragic outcome for all concerned.”
A second man who was shot remains in Auckland City Hospital in a stable condition.
