Shocking TV footage showed thick black smoke billowing from the scene.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced the tragedy during a speech, saying: “Seven of our citizens have lost their lives in a bus which caught fire after it overturned. I wish them God’s mercy.”

The terrifying crash left another 18 people injured, officials said.

They were all taken to the hospital- two of them in serious condition.

Initial reports indicate that two trucks were involved in a collision that caused a pileup dragging in the bus, Agri province governor Osman Varol said.

The bus driver lost control of the vehicle which resulted in driving into the opposite lane, the local newspaper Hurriyet reported.

The bus then reportedly caught fire before crashing into the two lorries.

The bus was on its way from Patnos in the Agri district to Tutak.

Firefighters rushed to the scene to put out the massive blaze.

The cause of the crash was under investigation, the state-run Anadolu Agency reported.

At least 18 passengers died in the accident, including 12 children, as they were on their way home after fleeing the worst-flood-hit areas, Siraj Qasim Soomro, parliamentary health secretary told reporters.
