Around 6:40 a.m., deputies were dispatched to Church Street, where they located the suspect, Kevin Bradley Goff, 56. Authorities said that deputies arrested Goff without incident while detectives began an investigation.

Deputies learned from witnesses that Goff approached firefighters, who were inspecting a residential fire that occurred Tuesday night. The sheriff’s office said that Goff showed a knife and made a stabbing motion toward the firefighters after personnel asked if he needed assistance.

According to deputies, as Goff began moving toward them, the victims left the area while the suspect still made disparaging remarks after them.

A witness stated that they saw Goff holding a knife in a threatening manner while shouting at the firefighters. The witness also showed deputies where the suspect attempted to conceal the knife used in the incident on Algiers Street, according to authorities.

The sheriff’s office reported that Goff was transported to the Calaveras County Jail and charged with criminal threats and brandishing a deadly weapon.
