News Roundup

This is a roundup of news and other interesting pieces that I’ve come across over the last few days. Check out an easy way to get to the retention department at Amex, Rome EDITION hotel, American Boeing 787 loses door, American Express Rewards Checking transfer issue, and Delta adds 5 interesting new routes.

The American Express Retention Backdoor

What if there were a magical phone number that let you skip American Express’s phone tree, enter your card number directly, and then you’d be sent immediately to the retention department with your card information pushed to the rep’s computer? Then you’d be living on Earth in 2023, because there is just that type of number: 866-376-4552.

The Rome EDITION Redefines Luxury in the Eternal City

Built in the 1940s and formerly occupied by one of the main Italian banks, the building is a striking example of the rationalist style and was created by Cesare Pascoletti in collaboration with the famed architect Marcello Piacentini. The stunning central staircase of rare cipollino marble from the quarries of Apuane is testament to their genius. Original features are retained throughout, including the central courtyards and original statues and lamps.

The hotel has three unique bars, a rooftop lounge, bar and pool, a show-kitchen restaurant, a well-appointed urban wellness space with gym and treatment rooms, and a courtyard garden where guests can while away the time sipping their favourite drink or sampling the peerless food menu from adored Roman Chef Paola Colucci, the hotel’s chef partner. The 91 rooms, including 17 suites, have all the design elements the brand is renowned for: the muted tones, the accents of walnut wood and stunning custom designed furniture.

American Boeing 787 Loses Door Due To Dublin Airport Jet Bridge Collapse

While details about what caused this incident are limited, there are pictures of a jet bridge having collapsed at Dublin Airport (DUB) today. Specifically, the jet bridge was connected to an American Airlines Boeing 787-8, which was supposed to operate flight AA723 to Philadelphia (PHL). When the jet bridge collapsed, it caused the plane’s second door on the left to disconnect and fall to the ground.

American Express Rewards Checking Transfer Issue

The American Express Rewards Checking has been pretty popular since it launched. Especially with 30K – 60K bonuses for signing up for an account. These offers are often paired with a no lifetime language Amex Business card welcome offer as well, which is a nice one two punch. But, there is an American Express rewards checking transfer issue that people should be aware of so they don’t cost themselves points.

Delta adds 5 interesting new routes

Delta Air Lines is back at it with a slew of interesting new routes. This time, though, the Atlanta-based carrier is mostly boosting point-to-point connectivity, rather than adding spokes to its key hub airports. Specifically, the carrier is adding the following five routes later this year, as confirmed by airline spokesperson Drake Castañeda.
