Amber Alert canceled: Child found, Sampson sheriff says

An Amber Alert for a Randolph County child was canceled within an hour Wednesday morning.

The North Carolina Center for Missing Persons published photos and an alert about Iris Everly-Marie Fargis, 1, believed to have been with Tyler Ray Toodle, 26.

Iris was last seen in Randleman, in Randoph County, and Toodle was believed to have ties to Alamance, Sampson and Caswell counties.

Just before noon, the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office said Iris has been found there.

WRAL is working to learn more about her condition, what led authorities to issue the alert and how she was found.

At the same time, Sampson County deputies were investigating a burned car along Mitchell Loop Road. According to Broadcastify radio traffic, there was a chase that ended in the car on fire there. It is not clear whether that car is connected to Toodle or to Iris’ disappearance.

A check of Toodle’s criminal record shows charges of domestic violence and assault on a female in Guilford County from August 2024. Court records show he and the alleged victim of that assault shared an address a recently as July.
