Air Canada and Canadian communications company Bell have partnered to provide free in-flight text messaging for loyalty program members as well as connectivity once visitors arrive in Canada, the carrier announced Wednesday.

Beginning May 15, Air Canada and Bell will offer free text messaging for Aeroplan loyalty members worldwide on all Wi-Fi equipped aircraft across Air Canada’s fleet, including Air Canada Rouge and Air Canada Express flights. Messaging apps enabled include Apple’s iMessage, Meta’s WhatsApp and Messenger, Rakuten’s Viber and Messages by Google.

This benefit also will be available to partner airline loyalty members including customers of United MileagePlus, Lufthansa Group Miles & More, and Emirates Skywards when their account numbers are associated with an Air Canada booking, according to Air Canada.

In addition, free mobile SIM cards will be available on select inbound international flights which can be activated in flight for connectivity upon landing in Canada, according to the carrier.
