Over the last 30 years, people have asked me thousands of times…
“Andrea, what’s the secret?”
The secret to finding love.
The secret to choosing the right person.
The secret to making dating less frustrating.
After coaching more than 33,000 first dates and helping create over 10,000 marriages and long-term relationships, I’ve realized something surprising.
It’s a handful of simple truths that almost everyone overlooks.
Here are six of the biggest.
1. Love Isn’t Luck. It’s Strategy.
This is probably the biggest misconception I see.
People wait for chemistry.
The happiest couples I’ve worked with weren’t necessarily the luckiest.
They made consistently better decisions.
Finding love isn’t random.
2. Most People Don’t Need More Dates.
They Need Better Decisions.
“I just need to get out there more.”
But more dates with the wrong people simply means more disappointment.
After studying dating patterns for three decades, I’ve found that one smart decision at the beginning often saves months—or years—of frustration later.
The goal isn’t to fill your calendar.
The goal is to find the right relationship.
I don’t mean intentionally.
But we all tell ourselves stories.
“I always attract narcissists.”
“There just aren’t any good men left.”
“Dating apps don’t work.”
Sometimes those stories feel true.
But when I look at someone’s dating history, I usually see something much more valuable:
And patterns can be changed.
That’s where real transformation begins.
4. Chemistry Is Wonderful.
Chemistry gets all the attention.
Compatibility quietly builds great relationships.
I’ve seen countless people chase excitement while overlooking kindness.
They mistake butterflies for long-term potential.
The strongest relationships aren’t always the loudest.
They’re often the calmest.
Nobody expects to become a great golfer, public speaker, or pianist without learning.
Yet people expect dating to come naturally.
The way you communicate…choose…listen…flirt…and evaluate someone…
6. You Don’t Need Reinvention.
One of my favorite parts of this job is watching people realize they aren’t broken.
They don’t need to become someone else.
They simply need a better strategy.
Sometimes it’s choosing differently.
Sometimes it’s communicating differently.
Sometimes it’s recognizing the opportunity standing right in front of them.
Small changes often create remarkable results.
I don’t believe in “The One.”
I don’t believe everyone should date the same way.
I don’t believe more matches automatically lead to better relationships.
I believe every person deserves a strategy that’s as unique as they are.
One that’s based on experience.
And three decades of watching real relationships unfold.
Because after 33,000 first dates, I’ve learned this:
The people who find lasting love aren’t usually the luckiest.
They’re the ones who make the smartest dating decisions.
And that’s exactly what I help people do.
