Downtown Roseville will debut its first-ever ice rink this December, bringing holiday cheer, community fun, and local business support to Vernon Street Town Square.
ROSEVILLE, Calif. — Downtown Roseville is getting its first-ever ice rink this winter, a new holiday tradition designed to bring families, friends and visitors together in the heart of the city.
The Downtown Roseville Ice Rink, presented by Kaiser Permanente, will open Dec. 7 and run through Jan. 4 at Vernon Street Town Square.
The rink will be open daily, except on Christmas Day, with weekday sessions from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., extended hours on Friday and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday sessions from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Lisa Peters, vice president and board member of the Downtown Roseville Partnership, and the event’s point person, said the idea was born of a desire to create a lasting community tradition.
“This is the inaugural Downtown Roseville Ice Rink, inspired by the desire to create a signature holiday event that would bring thousands of families, friends and visitors to the heart of downtown Roseville,” Peters said.
The rink joins a growing lineup of festive downtown events, including a tree lighting, a holiday parade, a tree grove, a North Pole Holiday Tavern and a gingerbread house contest.
Peters said the goal is to build on the city’s broader vision for a vibrant, family-friendly holiday season.
“The ice rink is yet another facet of a robust holiday season for all ages in Downtown Roseville,” Lisa said.
Organizers also hope the rink will help boost local businesses throughout the City of Roseville’s district.
“We hope that folks come to skate in downtown Roseville and stay to patronize the many shops and eateries,” Peters said.
Tickets are available online or at the rink via QR code. Admission is $18 for ages 14 and up, $10 for ages 6-13 and free for children 5 and under.
Each session lasts one hour, including 45 minutes of skate time and 15 minutes for check-in and skate exchanges.
Group tickets and private bookings can also be made through the Go Downtown Roseville website here.
Families with younger children or new skaters will find help on the ice, too.
“We have the skate helpers, push carts for beginners and little ones,” Peters said.
Peters confirmed that the rink will accommodate groups per session and expects the event to become a lasting part of Roseville’s winter celebrations.
“We are excited to make this a yearly event,” Peters said.
The rink will feature festive decor, holiday music, and plenty of opportunities to make seasonal memories.
Visitors are also encouraged to visit the City of Roseville’s website and Go Downtown Roseville’s pages for more holiday happenings and downtown merchant activities.
