Kroger just launched its annual Ultimate Bourbon Auction to fundraise against food insecurity. Customers can bid online for rare bottles of bourbon and tickets for a wealth of experiences.
This marks the auction’s fifth year. All proceeds will be donated to Dare to Care Food Bank for those in need of meals in Louisville and greater Kentucky.
In the past year, the organization provided 20.5 million meals across Kentucky and Southern Indiana.
Chris Blandford, a wine and spirits expert at Kroger, emphasized how important the initiative is to the local community.
“We’ve got a lot of problems in the world, but food shouldn’t be one of them,” he said. “Working at Kroger we see a lot of fresh food, and that shouldn’t be a problem.”
Kroger is offering a selection of items and rare bottles, including Eagle Rare, Knob Creek, Old Fourth Distillery, and Jack Daniel’s.
“Kroger has given me the ability to put all these amazing auction items together of releases that have come out,” Blandford said. “It’s a two-week long auction that we’re trying to raise $400,000. And it’s stuff that you can’t get.”
Some of the items can be won through raffles. There are raffle lots for the 2025 Pappy Van Winkle Collection, the 2025 Buffalo Trace Antique Collection, and for a bottle of 2025 King of Kentucky.
But it doesn’t stop at bourbon.
Up for grabs is also a Luke Combs signed guitar, a Green Day signed guitar, a package for the Kentucky Derby, and a Valhalla Golf Club experience.
Bidding opened on November 12, and it will continue up until 9 p.m. on November 23. Winners will be announced that night.
You can bid from anywhere, but winners must pick up their items in person at the Louisville Kroger Headquarters within two months—an excellent reason to visit bourbon country.
The auction is online at ultimatebourbonauction.com.
