What Sneakers Did Timothée Chalamet Buy to Play Pickup Basketball With Adam Sandler?

[ad_1]

To put it plainly, “Adam Sandler playing pickup basketball in SoHo with Timothée Chalamet” is like GQ Mad Libs. The fact that during this seemingly impromptu three-on-three game, Sandler wore a souvenir “Let Me Ask My Wife” T-shirt and Timmy unboxed a fresh pair of Trae Young’s Adidas basketball shoes that he’d just purchased from a nearby Foot Locker? As a style writer, those are the proverbial cherries on top.

Sandler, the Pre-Swag Godfather to Timmy’s Post-Swag King, of course wore roomy basketball shorts for their Manhattan meetup—the Sandman’s preferred style. Timmy, meanwhile, sported a navy version of the Supreme cargo sweatshorts he wore on his little city jaunt earlier this week. Speaking of city jaunts: Chalamet arrived at the court in a pair of Celine CT-06 high-tops before changing into his new Foot Locker acquisitions, while Sandler seemingly brought his own clean pair of Jordan Why Not .5 sneakers with him. (What pump-up song was Timothée listening to on the way there? The world may never know.)

Beyond their tastes in baggy shorts, Sandler and Chalamet have a lot to bond over. They’re both New York City natives, Knicks fanatics, Safdie brothers stans, and actually appeared together in Jason Reitman’s 2014 dramedy Men, Women, & Children. Sandler also referenced the young actor during his viral speech at the 2022 Gotham Awards, in which he called out his then-16- and 14-year-old daughters as Timmy fans while accepting his lifetime achievement-y Performer Tribute Award.

“I don’t want to spend the whole night that’s supposed to be about me and my greatness listening to you two newly pubertized buffoons screaming, ‘Where is Timothée Chalamet and how can we legally squeeze that fine little Jewish ass of his?’” As a daughter myself, I can only whine in solidarity with Sadie and Sunny Sandler when I say: DAD! 😡
