Beyoncé celebrates Juneteenth, only Black designers at ‘Renaissance’ show

Beyoncé celebrated Juneteenth by serving looks from only Black designers on Sunday during the Amsterdam leg of her ‘Renaissance’ world tour.

The record-breaking Grammy winning superstar shared the news on social media, announcing: “In honour of Juneteenth, everything I wore for RENAISSANCE WORLD TOUR tonight was created exclusively by Black designers.”

Juneteenth was made a federal holiday in the United States in 2021 to commemorate the emancipation of enslaved African Americans.

Beyonce, has long had a passion for Black fashion and created the House of Dereon collection with her mother Tina Knowles-Lawson. The “Cuff It” singer turned the stage at Amsterdam’s Johan Cruijff Arena into a three-hour runway show.

Designers worn included Maximilian Davis for Ferragamo, Olivier Rousteing for Balmain, Ibrahim Kamara for Off White, Ethiopian designer Feben for her eponymous line, Queens-born Laquan Smith, and her very own designs for Ivy Park.

Since beginning her tour in May, Beyoncé has worn disco-themed fashions onstage by designers such as Mugler, Alexander McQueen and Balmain.

She took the stage in a custom Ivy Park full-length fringed overcoat in iridescent pink, paired with a floor-length pink gown.

According to her rep, the bespoke look was conceived and creatively directed by the singer-songwriter.

The Renaissance World Tour dancers also wore an array of pink Ivy Park looks styled by Karen Langley, Brittany Jones and Shiona Turini.

Beyoncé and sportswear giant Adidas reportedly came to the mutual decision to end their near four-year-old clothing and shoe line partnership earlier this year. According to The Hollywood Reporter, creative differences factored into the split for the Ivy Park line.

The former Destiny’s Child frontwoman announced in late March that she has created a haute couture collection in collaboration with Rousteing, Balmain’s creative director.
