Prince Louis, son of Kate Middleton and Prince William, stars in birthday portraits

Kate Middleton and Prince William’s youngest child, Louis, was all-smiles in newly released photos celebrating his fifth birthday, which is Sunday.

The proud parents shared the portraits in an Instagram post Saturday, writing, “Someone’s turning 5 tomorrow… 🎂 🥳. A very happy birthday to Prince Louis.”

The two photos were snapped by photographer Millie Pilkington, reports People Magazine.

In the first image, Prince Louis smiles as he sits in a wheelbarrow full of grass which is being pulled by his mother. The young royal sported a cozy blue sweater atop a collared shirt and blue shorts.

The second image shows a close up of Louis, staring off into the distance and wearing the same blue sweater. The tilted angle of the photo gives a closer look at his brown eyes and pushed-back brown hair.

Breaking from royal tradition, the Princess of Wales did not step behind the camera to take any photos of her son.

Middleton has described herself as an “enthusiastic amateur photographer,” and has typically taken photos of her three children that are shared with the public for their birthdays.

Last year, she shared photos of Louis she snapped herself, which showed the then-four-year-old running happily on the beach.

Louis has had an exciting year since then. He started at Lambrook, a school for children between ages 3 and 13, which his siblings also attend. Also, he made his debut at several events alongside the royal family during Christmas and Easter.
