Ever since I got a KitchenAid stand mixer last year — the best purchase ever — I’ve been using any excuse in the book to bake. Having a lazy Sunday? I’ll make some chocolate chip cookies and bring them over to my weekly Bachelor viewing party. Going over to a friend’s apartment for brunch? Cranberry muffins it is.

But while I have a Rolodex of recipes to choose from, I’ve struggled to figure out how to pack my creations. Packing cookies in reusable Tupperware might be the most obvious answer, but retrieving containers back from even the closest friend can be a bit challenging. Disposable tins from the grocery store might solve that problem, but they’re not exactly cute.

What’s So Great About These Bakery Boxes?

Fortunately, I found Moretoes’ Brown Bakery Boxes on Amazon and, wow, they tick off all of the boxes. This six-inch square box can comfortably fit a dozen cookies, a small stack of brownies, or about four cupcakes. I even read that one happy customer used them for mini charcuterie boxes, which is ingenious. Each box is made with kraft paper that’s sturdy enough to hold my baked goods, but won’t add unnecessary bulk to my precious cargo during transportation. Another thing to love? Recipients can easily toss the boxes into their recycling bins.

These bakery boxes are also surprisingly affordable. In fact, you can currently buy a set of 48 boxes on Amazon for around $20. If you do the math, each box will add less than $2 to your baking budget.

My only gripe? Although each box is made of a large, pre-folded slab of kraft paper, it can be a little tricky to assemble; one false move and a seemingly secure tab can pop out of its designated slot. Assembling the boxes might require some trial and error, so I’d recommend securing those slots with some tape in the meantime. But when you think about everything the boxes get right — style! Function! Price point! — a little bit of tape is a small inconvenience that pays off.
