Hi Izza, welcome to OLC! So for everyone out there can you tell us how you began your musical journey and who inspired you to follow this path?

I knew I always wanted to be an entertainer. Growing up, I took dance classes, played piano, and loved singing. There was no greater feeling of happiness I had than when I listened to music. It wasn’t until I was 13 when I discovered songwriting that I instantly knew I wanted to pursue music as a career. I was inspired by women like Lady Gaga, Gwen Stefani, and Fergie.

Where do you get your inspiration to write your songs? Do you like to take them from your own personal experiences?

Yes! All of my songs are based on personal experiences or experiences that have happened to my friends. Songwriting is my therapy, so to be able to use it as a medicine for myself and others is the best feeling ever.

You have a brand new song out February 10th called ‘Going Rogue’, what can your fans expect from it?

I wrote “Going Rogue” when I decided to take control of my life and not be influenced anymore by the people or things around me. Finding freedom in being myself, even if that meant going against social normalcy, felt like a rebirth and allowed me to unlock my true voice and identity.

Why did you decide to call it ‘Going Rogue’?

There is usually a negative connotation when you say someone is going rogue. There is also a negative connotation when people start living the way they want and stop people pleasing. I decided to own the fact that I was going to make people unhappy because I was choosing myself over them. That is how I came up with the title of the song!

What do you hope listeners will take away after hearing Going Rogue?

I hope it inspires them to do whatever they want and follow their dreams no matter what people around them say!

I read you play tennis? Do you also follow it? I love watching tennis I grew up watching it and still watch it now. Do you have a favorite player?

I love tennis! I grew up as a tennis player and still play when I’m not making music. I love being competitive and athletic and tennis is something that will always be a part of my identity. I’m always watching the grand slams and my favorite player right now is Naomi Osaka.

What advice do you have for aspiring singer/songwriters who want to get their break in the industry?

Make the music that you want to make and never give up!

What’s next for you in 2023?

I’m releasing my second EP in the spring/summertime! My follow-up single, “Galaxy,” is also coming out in March!
