A new Nintendo Direct will reportedly be held next week, as Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb claims that Nintendo’s next big showcase will be held the week of February 6. “Everything I’m hearing, and it’s all just sort of reiterating it, it continues to be the week of February 6,” Grubb said on his Game Mess show.

“I think it’s probably late in the week, so if February 6 is going to come around and we’re not going to hear about it, and people are going to freak out like there’s nothing happening, first of all, I’m not guaranteeing it for that week, I’m just saying that’s what everything is sort of pointing to right now.”

Nintendo has traditionally held a Direct showcase in February, occasionally splitting the focus of the show between a preview of several games and more dedicated livestreams like 2016’s Pokemon Direct. A February Direct has been held almost every single year since 2012, with the only exception being 2017’s Nindies Showcase.

“I don’t think that’s too surprising because they always have one in February or March at the latest. I think it’s going to happen, I think it’s going to happen pretty soon, and I wouldn’t be surprised if all these indicators are exactly right, especially with that stuff shaking loose with Advance Wars 1+2,” Grubb added.

Advance Wars 1+2, which was originally scheduled to launch last year before Russia’s invasion of Ukraine resulted in Nintendo postponing the launch to an unspecified date, had its Nintendo eShop page updated last week, possibly hinting at a new release date. According to Grubb, Advance Wars 1+2 will have a quick moment in the spotlight before Nintendo moves on to other announcements, including an update on The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

With a new Zelda game on the horizon, Nintendo is planning to increase Switch production to meet the anticipated demand for its hybrid console, which turns seven this year. It’s a big year for the company outside of games, as The Super Mario Bros. Movie will be hitting the big screen on April 7.
