Duncanville police arrested a former Grand Prairie teacher on Friday on charges of sexually assaulting a child, according to a statement.
The teacher, James Robinson, worked for the Grand Prairie Independent School District for eight years as a social-studies teacher at Grand Prairie High School, according to Star-Telegram media partner WFAA-TV.
Robinson has been placed on administrative leave, district officials said in a statement to WFAA.
“The well-being of our students is a top priority in Grand Prairie ISD. We are committed to taking swift and immediate action to protect and support our children,” a district spokesperson said in the statement.
The arrest was part of an ongoing criminal investigation into Robinson, Duncanville police said. Anyone with information that may be relevant to the investigation is encouraged to contact Duncanville police detective Hernandez at 972-780-3842.
Due to privacy concerns and the ongoing nature of the investigation, Duncanville police did not immediately release any further details about the allegations against Robinson.
