Prince Carl of Denmark married his first cousin, Princess Maud of Wales, in the Private Chapel at Buckingham Palace in London in 1896. The couple had one son, and were elected to the Norwegian Throne in 1905, becoming King Haakon VII and Queen Maud of Norway.
