Motorcyclist killed after colliding with box truck making a turn in Woodside: NYPD – QNS

A motorcycle rider was killed when he collided with a box truck making a turn off Roosevelt Avenue in Woodside on Thursday, July 2.

A motorcyclist was killed on Roosevelt Avenue in Woodside on Thursday morning when he slammed into a box truck driver who was executing a turn onto a side street.

Police say the 25-year-old man was riding a 2017 Kawasaki motorcycle at 7:45 a.m. westbound on Roosevelt Avenue approaching 64th Street when he collided with the delivery truck that was also traveling westbound and was making a right turn onto 64th Street. The victim was ejected from his motorcycle and landed at the northwest corner of the intersection.

The rider was ejected of his bike after the impact  and pronounced dead at the scene by EMS.

‘Police from the 108th Precinct responded to a 911 call of a motor vehicle collision in front of 64-02 Roosevelt Ave. and found the rider on the roadway unconscious and unresponsive. EMS responded and pronounced him dead at the scene. The identity of the deceased is pending proper family notification.

The victims motorcycle ended on the sidewalk on Roosevelt Avenue and 64th Street where his helmet was found in the crosswalk.

The 57-year-old box truck driver remained at the scene. There have been no arrests and the investigation remaining ongoing.

The 57-year-old box truck driver remained at the scene of the crash. There are no arrests and the investigation by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad remains ongoing.
