Carly Rae Jepsen Announces Double Album ‘Day And Night’ With Lead Single ‘On Wires’ – Culture Fix

Carly Rae Jepsen reveals her new double album Day and Night, with lead single On Wires. This marks Carly Rae Jepsen’s first full album since The Loneliest Time in 2022 and its follow-up The Loveliest Time in 2023.

The Canadian hitmaker shares: Day and Night. Exploring and dancing through two distinctly different landscapes. Day being more open-eyed, organic and earthbound and Night being more escapist and even intense at times.

On Wires sees Carly work with co-writers Kyle Shearer and Nate Cyphert, with production also from Shearer. The track taps into breezy singer-songwriter influences, with pop rock and Fleetwood Mac-inspired textures woven throughout.

The star spoke to NME about the visual identity of the single: I pictured chasing this man through the streets of New York. But then, by the time we shot the video, I was like, ‘How do I chase a man through the streets when I’m six months pregnant?’ It would look like I’m looking for child support! So my creative directors came up with this concept where there’s this really beautiful tug of war between me and the microphone cable. And the more we talked about it, the more it became a metaphor for what was really going on in my life, which was me carving out space for my personal life within the business of music, while I’m in the middle of this pregnancy.

On the inspiration behind Day and Night, she shares: At the time, he was just my boyfriend, and a lot of this album is really about that relationship: us falling in love and deciding to make a family together. There’s nothing wilder than writing a love song about your husband, then showing it to him, and having him participate in it. It was honestly a really beautiful process.

See the expected tracklist below, although this is yet to be officially confirmed.
