RIDGEWOOD, Queens (WABC) — Police are searching for the gunman who shot a woman outside a business in Queens on Tuesday.
Officers say the victim, a 23-year-old woman, was on Wycoff Avenue in the Ridgewood section just before 3 p.m. when someone shot her in the leg.
Investigators believe a dark sedan with four men inside, pulled up and opened fire.
“I just heard, like, six or seven shots go off at the same time insane,” a man told Eyewitness News. “And, I heard screaming, like, throughout the whole complex.”
The man said he heard the shootings, saw the victim on the ground and then ran to comfort her until help arrived.
“She was just in pain and worrying for her life,” the man said.
Police sources told Eyewitness News that the victim was an innocent bystander.
She was taken to a hospital in stable condition and is expected to survive.
It’s not clear yet who was the intended target.
The investigation is ongoing.
