Woman shot in chest while sleeping during possible drive-by in SE Houston, HPD says

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — The Houston Police Department said that they are searching for at least one suspect after a woman was shot while sleeping in southeast Houston early Monday morning.

Police responded to the 7300 block of McHenry Street just before 7 a.m. ABC13 SkyEye circled the area and saw caution tape around a carport, and officers were seen entering the home next to it.

The woman inside the home was reportedly shot in the chest, according to HPD. She was taken to the hospital, where she is stable.

Officials said this was possibly a targeted drive-by shooting.

Investigators said the shooter circled the area, then at about 5:33 a.m., neighbors said they heard multiple gunshots.

It is unknown whether anyone else was inside the home or whether there were any additional injuries.
