Oregon Lottery Super Bowl Betting Records Broken – KXL

[ad_1]

Gamblers across Oregon wagered $8.4 million for Super Bowl LX, which saw the Seattle Seahawks defeat the New England Patriots, (29-13).

Kerry Hemphill with the Oregon lottery explains why despite the successes, there was still negatives to glance over.

“It brings in a lot of new customer base that might be more of a recreational bettor,” Hemphill said. “The revenue did trend down lower than last year largely due to the (odds of the) (nearby) support of the Seahawks.”

Hemphill says another reason why there was less money generated was because the game was initially low scoring, which reduced activity.

“We could’ve given away a lot more winners if the game would’ve been more of a shootout,” Hemphill said. “The fact that the game was not, I guess the surprising part is that we came out ahead.”

The biggest bet placed was by a person in Portland way back in August, who wagered $1,000 for the Seahawks to win the Super Bowl. They took home $60,000 after Sunday’s Seattle victory.
