After their successful reunion at Melodifestivalen’s Hall of Fame in 2024, the Swedish pop supergroup have reunited for good, with tour dates and now, a year on, their very own entry into the song contest. Marie Serneholt, Sara Lumholdt, Dhani Lennevald and Amit Paul release Iconic, a euphoric slice of scandipop excellence that marks their first new single in over twenty years.
The group collaborate with an all-star team of Swedish songwriters including Jimmy Jansson, Moa “Cazzi Opeia” Carlebecker, Thomas G:son, Lina Hansson and Dino Medanhodzic. On what appealed to them about the track, ATeens share “Iconic has a chorus that sticks after the first listen, a banger that ties together ATeens then and now. The song is what it says, iconic.”
Their return to Melodifestivalen was a gamble that ultimately paid off, with the song going straight through to March’s final and winning big with most voting age groups. Prior to their performance, the group shared “We didn’t know it then, but the response we received after our interval act at Melodifestivalen 2024 became the starting point for our comeback. Over the past two years, we’ve toured and travelled around the world, meeting our audience, and the idea of new music started to appeal to us. It feels big, nerve-wracking and completely right to launch it at Melodifestivalen.”
We are delighted A*Teens are back, and we have our fingers well and truly crossed for more music, because Iconic is truly everything we could have wanted from their comeback.
