Interview: Sanna Nielsen Returns to Melodifestivalen: Eurovision Legend on ‘Waste Your Love’ – Culture Fix

It’s not every day you are granted an audience with a Eurovision legend, and Culture Fix editor Andrew was delighted to sit down with Sanna Nielsen. Sanna returns to Melodifestivalen with her 2026 entry Waste Your Love, her first foray into the competition since winning in 2014 with Undo, which she represented Sweden with at Eurovision. Now Sanna collaborates with a hit team of creatives: Jimmy Jansson, Peter Boström and Thomas G:son, for her eagerly anticipated Melo return.

In our interview, Sanna reflects on how her 2025 Hall of Fame performance spurred her desire to come back to Melodifestivalen, twenty-five years after first appearing with I går, i dag in 2001. Having won the contest once, is Sanna still competitive? She reveals all above. The Undo hitmaker also shares how it feels to be diving into the heats with a number of new talents and which of the stars has taken on some of Sanna’s biggest hits on SingStar.

Sanna also reflects on her time in the Eurovision Song Contest and what the magnitude of that week feels like for an artist, not to mention a surprising place where she delivered a rendition of Undo. You will want to watch until the end to discover which of Sanna’s tracks she views as an underrated gem that fans should seek out.

Sanna appears in Melodifestivalen heat five in Sundsvall where she will perform Waste Your Love. You can connect with her on the following social channels: TikTok, Instagram and Facebook.
