Japan will be the honored country at the 90th Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF), showcasing the nation’s rich cultural heritage and cutting-edge technological achievements, according to an announcement by TIF-Helexpo, Greece’s national exhibition organizer.

Scheduled for September 5–13, this edition coincides with 100 years since Thessaloniki hosted its first international fair in 1926.

Preparations for Japan’s participation are already underway at pavilion 13 of the Thessaloniki International Exhibition & Congress Center.

Coordinated by the Embassy of Japan in Greece, the pavilion will showcase a broad range of Japanese industry, innovation and culture, featuring companies from sectors including tourism, technology, automotive, energy and health.

During a recent meeting at the Japanese ambassador’s residence in Athens, attended by Ministry of Foreign Affairs representatives, TIF-HELEXPO officials, Ambassador Koichi Ito, and members of the Japanese community, details of the exhibition were discussed.

“This year offers substantial opportunities to further strengthen Japan–Greece relations,” Ito said.

The exhibition concept, rooted in the Japanese notion of “Takumi” – craftsmanship and mastery – will guide both design and programming. Wisdom, empathy and driving force serve as thematic pillars, shaping educational activities, networking meetings, corporate presentations and cultural events for professional and general audiences alike.

“This milestone edition celebrates a century of the Thessaloniki International Fair and underscores its ongoing cultural and economic significance,” said TIF-Helexpo President Christos Tsentemeidis.

The Thessaloniki International Fair continues to be a premier meeting point for business, industry, and political leaders from Greece and Southeastern Europe, offering a platform for engagement and exchange.
