SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Two people were arrested this week in connection to an assault of a protestor outside a downtown Sacramento federal building, police said.
Officers responded to reports of an assault before 3:30 p.m. Saturday in the 500 block of N Street near the John Moss Federal Building, according to the Sacramento Police Department.
Police said Thursday they arrested Megan Garfield, 41, and Sean McCune, 53, both Sacramento County residents, on charges including assault with a deadly weapon, felony vandalism, and conspiracy charges.
Scott Stauffer, an anti-ICE protestor, previously told ABC10 he was the one assaulted during the demonstration. He said his vehicle was damaged and that he was pepper-sprayed during the confrontation.
Stauffer said he regularly demonstrates outside the building and was assaulted while protesting near the site.
Police said the incident remains under investigation.
