MANASSAS PARK, Va. — The city of Manassas Park’s new ordinance barring firearms from public buildings will go into effect after Jan. 1.
The ordinance covers handguns, shotguns, rifles, or anything that “may readily be converted to expel single or multiple projectiles by action of an explosion of a combustible material.”
Some exceptions are included in the ordinance, among them are scholastic sports teams that compete in firearms, law enforcement officers, on-duty military personnel, and private security hired by the city.
