Missing 13-year-old found inside Silver Spring home, kidnapping suspect arrested

The teen girl was taken to the hospital for evaluation on Friday.

SILVER SPRING, Md. — A 13-year-old girl reported missing from Kentucky has been found hundreds of miles away from home, in Silver Spring, the Montgomery County Department of Police announced on Saturday.

The family released a statement to WUSA 9 saying: 

“We are incredibly grateful that [she] has been found safe. These past weeks have been unimaginably painful for our family, and we are thankful beyond words to law enforcement in Kentucky and Maryland, the U.S. Marshals, and everyone who shared [her] story and kept her name alive.”

They said their focus now is on surrounding her with love and support. 

Christian Alexander Delgado, 37, was arrested on Friday by MCPD and the U.S. Marshals Service after the police forces closed in on a home on the 12000 block of Dalewood Drive in Silver Spring at around 6 p.m.

Police believe Delgado kidnapped the teen girl. After Delgado was arrested in Maryland, the Rockcastle County Sheriff’s Office in Kentucky obtained its own arrest warrant for the 37-year-old. 

The 13-year-old was taken to the hospital for evaluation on Friday. MCPD officers that a tip that she might be inside Montgomery County led them to her.  

Delgado has been held in the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit as he awaits extradition to Kentucky. 

Reported missing on Oct. 14, the 13-year-old Rockcastle County, Ky., a rural area about an hour south of Lexington.

“(She) has been located and is safe,” the Rockcastle County Sheriff’s Office posted to its Facebook page Friday night. “More details later. Thanks to all that’s assisted in this wonderful ending.” 

While the teen’s name and photo have been reported, WUSA9 is are not sharing either because she’s minor and police tell us the alleged victim of a crime.
