Snow storm preparations continue amid busy holiday travel weekend

Christmas may be over, but many are traveling home or headed to visit more friends and family.

Conditions are expected to change later this evening, with snow expected to start late this afternoon and continue into tomorrow.

If you’re planning on driving or flying, it pays to pay attention to weather alerts and plan around the anticipated storm if you’re able.

This weekend, New York City is expecting its biggest snowfall in over three years.

New York City Emergency Management has issued a travel advisory for tonight into tomorrow.

New York State is ready to deploy more than 1600 large plow trucks as needed, and the State Department of Transportation is prepared to respond.

This week marks a peak travel period amid the rush of the holiday season.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey said that it was expecting nearly 15 million travelers to use major local airports like JFK, Newark and LaGuardia — along with its bridges and tunnels during the holiday season, with travel peaking on Sunday.

City officials are now urging people to stay off the roads and adjust travel plans.

If you have a flight tonight, you’ll definitely want to give yourself some extra time and check your flight status for delays and cancellations.
