MANASSAS, Va. — One lane has opened on I-66 eastbound near Manassas Battlefield Park, giving some relief to drivers dealing with standstill traffic conditions caused by a crash Wednesday morning.
Traffic cameras captured the scene as drivers lined up for about a mile. The crash happened around 5:20 a.m. near the VA-234 / Prince William Parkway exit and near Manassas National Battlefield Park in Prince William County, but the intense backups continued into the 6 o’clock hour as crews responded to the crash.
Drivers in a sedan and a pickup truck collided on the highway, causing a standstill. Unconscious and trapped when emergency crews arrived, one crash victim was taken to the hospital, according to the Prince William County Police Department.
