A man is in jail Thursday after deputies in Wake County accused him of sexually assaulting a juvenile.
According to the Wake County Sheriff’s Office, deputies received reports of an alleged sexual assault in March that happened in the eastern part of Wake County.
After a months-long investigation and discussions with the Wake County District Attorney’s Office, investigators arrested and charged Jayson Martinez, 24, with one count of statuatory rape of a child by an adult and two counts of statutory rape of a child under the age of 15.
Martinez made his first court appearance on Thursday.
