Two people were killed and two others were seriously hurt, including two teenagers, after a crash in Apopka, the Florida Highway Patrol says. According to the FHP, the crash happened just after 6 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of Rock Springs Road and Alexandria Place Drive.Troopers say an 18-year-old man from Apopka was driving a Mustang south on Rock Springs Road at a high rate of speed with a 17-year-old boy in the passenger seat. As the Mustang approached the intersection, the FHP says a van being driven by a 63-year-old man was heading north in the left-turn lane and attempting to turn west onto Alexandria Place Drive.According to the crash report, the van turned directly into the path of the fast-moving Mustang. The front of the Mustang then slammed into the right side of the van.Two older Apopka residents who were passengers in the van were killed. The FHP says the two residents were an 81-year-old man who was pronounced dead at the scene and a 94-year-old woman who was rushed to a hospital but later died from her injuries.The driver of the Mustang and his 17-year-old passenger were both rushed to a hospital with serious injuries. FHP says the 17-year-old is in critical condition at the hospital.Troopers say the driver of the van was not transported and stayed at the scene.FHP says the investigation into the crash is ongoing.
