In the next couple of weeks, certainly before Christmas, Governor Kotek faces a tough choice: Does she admit she lied to citizens.
You see, just a few months ago Kotek’s ODOT threatened Oregonians that money troubles gave it no choice but to lay off almost 500-people who keep the roads passable.
Most of us know they lied…that there’s plenty of money in a bloated bureaucracy with 5-thousand employees.
Anyway, the lie worked and a special session passed the biggest transportation tax hike in history…4.3 billion.
Money from the 15% gas tax hike is scheduled to start flowing New year’s eve.
Organizers of the No Tax OR.com petition expect to have plenty of signatures to qualify it for a vote. When those signatures get certified, likely next month, Tina’s Titanic Tax gets put on hold for a year…and depending on what voters do next November..it’s cancelled altogether.
If the money spigot closes does the Governor admit she lied this summer and keep workers on the job…or stick to her lies and lay them off…just as the snow starts falling.
The third option, of course, is admit the layoff threat was just extortion and she actually has the money.
Kotek lies a lot, without much consequence so, which one do you think she’ll pick?
