A Raleigh man is facing charges after police say he crashed into a police vehicle while driving the wrong way on New Hope Road.
Izayaih Xzayvin Cooper, 20, is charged with felony hit and run cusing injury and felony serious injury by a vehicle. The officer in the vehicle had serious pain and swelling around his left arm and wrist following the crash around 3 a.m. Tuesday, according to the arrest warrant.
Cooper is also accused of fleeing to elude arrest on Louisburg Road that same day. According to an arrest warrant, Cooper is accused of driving more than 15 miles over the speed limit in an effort to avoid being pulled over by police.
Cooper also faces charges of driving while impaired, operating a vehicle with no insurance, driving while licence revoked, having an expired registration, failure to stop at a red light and reckless driving to endanger.
Cooper was due in court Wednesday.
