Emergency crews in Prince George’s County rescued a dog from a house fire in Chillum, treating him with a pet oxygen mask before reuniting him with his family.
CHILLUM, Md. — Prince George’s County Firefighters rescued a dog from a house fire in Chillum Tuesday and were able to treat him at the scene using special equipment.
Crews responded to the home in the 6200 block of 20th Avenue at 2:01 p.m.
When they arrived, smoke was coming from the basement.
Crews located the fire in a basement utility closet, but not before it had spread to the first floor.
The dog was showing symptoms of smoke inhalation. Emergency personnel were able to treat him with a specially designed pet oxygen mask and later reunite him with his family.
No one was injured in the fire.
Investigators have not identified what caused the fire.
