South suburban college closing after over 60 years, citing financial issues

PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. (WLS) — A longtime college in the south suburbs will close at the end of the school year.

Trinity Christian College announced Tuesday morning the final commencement ceremony will be held in May.

The school cited a combination of factors for closing, including declining enrollment and financial losses after the COVID pandemic.

Students who will not be able to finish their degrees at the school are being given “teach-out” options, school officials said.

The school located in Palos Heights opened in 1959.
