BEAR, Del. (WPVI) — A propane tank explosion on the railroad tracks in Bear, Delaware damaged a nearby church and warehouse Saturday afternoon.

It happened just before 1 p.m. along the 3300 block of Wrangle Hill Road. Officials on scene say crews were working on a piece of equipment on the tracks that was carrying a propane tank when it caught fire, triggering the explosion.

The blast damaged a church and a warehouse located about 500 feet away. The church’s windows were blown out and its roof briefly caught fire, but crews were able to quickly extinguish the flames. The warehouse’s doors were also blown open.

Authorities say there is minor damage to several homes in the nearby Oakwood housing development along Moyer Drive.

No injuries have been reported. Wrangle Hill Road remains closed between Porter Road and Red Lion Road as crews continue to investigate.
