Parents, grandmother charged with murder, torture after boy found dead inside freezer in Lynwood

LYNWOOD, Calif. (KABC) — The parents and grandmother of a 7-year-old boy who was found dead inside a freezer in a Lynwood apartment Tuesday night were charged with murder and other counts.

The child’s mother, 25-year-old Destiny Harrison, the father, 25-year-old Daniel Monzon, and grandmother, 46-year-old Ana Zarceno-Carcamo, were charged with murder, torture and willful cruelty to a child, with an allegation of willful harm resulting in death.

The father and grandmother were also charged with being an accessory after the fact.

Deputies were called shortly after 8:30 p.m. to an apartment building in the 3100 block of Euclid Avenue, near Santa Fe Avenue.

Authorities reportedly received a call reporting a dead child. When deputies arrived at the apartment complex to conduct a welfare check, they made the grim discovery. The 7-year-old was reportedly found in the freezer and pronounced dead at the scene.

The child’s mother, father and grandmother were taken into custody, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Three additional children, ages 16, 13 and 9 months, were also found at the scene and taken into protective custody by the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services.

It’s unclear how long the child had been dead. The investigation into the child’s death is ongoing.
