Donor offers $50K reward in 40-year-old case of missing Oregon coast teen

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — An anonymous donor has offered a $50,000 reward for new information on the murder of an Oregon teenage girl, which has gone unsolved for over 40 years.

On March 9, 1984, authorities said 17-year-old Kelly Disney was reported missing after being last seen walking eastbound on Highway 20 near U.S. 101 in Newport.

In July 1994, over 10 years after her disappearance, Disney’s skull was found in an abandoned vehicle near Big Creek Reservoir outside of Newport.

Officials are looking for new information in the murder case of 17-year-old Kelly Disney, who went missing in 1984. (Lincoln County District Attorney’s Office)

Her death was ruled a homicide after officials said, “It appeared her skull had recently been placed at that location.”

The Lincoln County District Attorney’s Office previously stated they had reason to believe members of the community have information in the investigation and are encouraging them to come forward.

The DA’s Office then confirmed on Friday that an anonymous donor offered the reward for any information leading to Disney’s remains and/or the conviction of her killer.
