NC 81-year-old grandfather won’t be charged after shooting grandson in self-defense: Police

The Johnston County district attorney says no charges are being filed because it was self-defense.

JOHNSTON COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) — A grandfather in Johnston County shot his grandson and police say it was in self defense.

It happened at a home in Benson on Kennedy Circle.

Benson police say the 83-year-old man shot his 27-year-old grandson in the back.

The grandson is in the hospital, his condition is unknown.

Police say they spoke with the district attorney and no charges are being filed because it was self defense.
