The weekend cooking talk show featured recipe demonstrations, cooking tips and celebrity guest appearances.
LOS ANGELES — Food Network announced Monday that “The Kitchen,” its long-running weekend cooking talk show, will end its nearly 12-year run in December after 40 seasons and more than 500 episodes.
The final episode will air Saturday, Dec. 13 at 11 a.m. ET, the network said.
The Emmy-nominated series, which premiered in January 2014, has been hosted by Sunny Anderson, Katie Lee Biegel, Jeff Mauro and Geoffrey Zakarian, with Alex Guarnaschelli as a recurring guest host. The show featured recipe demonstrations, cooking tips and celebrity guest appearances each Saturday morning.
“For over a decade Sunny, Katie, Jeff, Geoffrey and more recently Alex have engaged audiences with their individual and distinct food sensibilities and sense of humor that together make ‘The Kitchen’ a delicious way to spend an hour,” Betsy Ayala, Warner Bros. Discovery’s head of food content, said in a statement.
Ayala added that the team wanted to “celebrate this team’s hard work during one final holiday season.”
The hosts have shared more than 2,000 recipes during the show’s run, according to the network. Notable guests over the years included fellow Food Network stars as well as famous celebrities, including Martha Stewart, Bobby Flay, Rachael Ray, Daniel Radcliffe, Tony Shalhoub, Susan Lucci, Martina McBride, Rev Run, Vanilla Ice, Trisha Yearwood, Regina King and Willie Geist.
Lee Biegel called the series “the greatest professional honor of my life” in an Instagram story. Mauro wrote on Facebook that he “always knew what we had was special” and thanked viewers for the show’s longevity.
Marcela Valladolid was part of the original hosting team but left in 2017.
Episodes will continue to be available on HBO Max and Discovery+.
