WASHINGTON — Early voting in Virginia is underway and runs through Saturday, Nov. 1. The general election is on Nov. 4. Here’s everything you need to know to cast your ballot.
WHAT’S ON THE BALLOT
Voters will be deciding who will be their next Governor, Lieutenant Governor, and Attorney General. All 100 House of Delegates seats are also on the ballot, along with local offices.

EARLY VOTING LOCATIONS

VOTER ID INFORMATION
Virginia law requires voters to present an ID or to sign an ID Confirmation Statement at the polls.

DEADLINE TO REGISTER OR UPDATE YOUR VOTER INFORMATION
You have until Oct. 24 to register to vote or update your registration. You can register online by going to this site.
You can also register at your local voter registration office.
Virginia also has same-day voter registration, which means you can register to vote in person and cast a provisional ballot. Click here for more information on this.

DEADLINES TO VOTE ABSENTEE
You can request an absentee ballot in person, by mail or by contacting your general registrar’s office. Click here to find that office.
You can also request a ballot online by going here.
The deadline to apply for an absentee ballot is Oct. 24 by 5 p.m.
Absentee ballots must be postmarked no later than Nov. 4 and must be received by noon on Nov. 7.
You can also return your absentee ballot at a drop-off location. This must be done no later than Nov. 4 by 7 p.m.
