(FOX40.COM) – Stockton Police announce a major break with a second arrest connected to a deadly shooting that happened in August.
It was Aug. 30 when Stockton police officers were called to the area of Albany Dr and Astor Dr for reports of a person shot.
When they arrived, officers found 18-year-old Isaac Howard suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
The victim was subsequently transported to an area hospital for treatment where he was in critical condition for some time but died less than three weeks later from his injuries.
Investigators later identified 23-year-old Walter Burgess as their first suspect.
“So, on September 22nd, our detectives were able to locate Walter Burgess, 23 years of age. And we’re able to arrest him in connection to that homicide,” said Public Information Officer Omer Edhah. “The investigation was nowhere to be over.”
Detectives continued investigating. On Oct. 9, they made their second arrest. Alexis Holloway, 18, was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail on homicide charges.
Neighbors who did not want to go on camera described the shooting as frightening and said it was too close to home.
Police have not released a possible motive and say their work is far from over.
“Know that we’re tirelessly working on this. We leave no rock unturned. We will keep going until we find those responsible for the case, for this incident,” said Edhah. “We have two in custody right now for this case. So, we want to give that message to the family and rest assured that we will continue to work on this.”
Both suspects remain behind bars while investigators continue to piece together what led up to the shooting.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the Stockton Police Department.
