1 dead, 2 hospitalized in Sacramento County crash

One person died and two were sent to the hospital after a crash in a parking lot on La Riviera Drive.

SACRAMENTO COUNTY, Calif. — One person died, and two others are hospitalized after a single-vehicle crash in Sacramento County.

According to Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District, the crash happened on Thursday on the 8700 block of La Riviera Drive, east of Watt Avenue. 

When the crews arrived, they found three people inside an overturned vehicle in the parking lot in front of multiple businesses.  

Two people were pulled from the vehicle, and one other person was pronounced dead at the scene. Metro Fire believes the driver was the person killed in the crash.

The two others who were rescued were taken to local hospitals for critical injuries. Their conditions are unknown. 

No other vehicles were involved, and the damage was limited to the parking lot, according to Metro Fire. 

Metro Fire said it remains unclear if the driver had a medical emergency prior to the crash. 

The crash is under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
