SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KTXL) – The Sacramento Kings played their first game of the preseason on Wednesday night, and it’s a good thing it is the preseason.
The Kings lost at home to the Toronto Raptors, 130-122. They were down by as many as 25 points in the game.
“You know, out of that whole game you probably got ‘Kings identity’ maybe two quarters. Quarter and a half, I’ll say a quarter and a half,” said head coach Doug Christie. “So the consistency of what we expect needs to be at a higher level for a longer period of time.”
The Kings committed 19 turnovers, and they allowed the Raptors to shoot 54.1% from 3-point range.
Domantas Sabonis and Zach LaVine got their points, 19 and 16 respectively for a combined 35. With it being the first preseason game, they were pretty much done by halftime.
“I’m not gonna lie, it definitely felt sloppy,” said Sabonis, who scored his 19 points in 23 minutes. “That’s why we have film (on Thursday) in practice, and that’s why we have four of these games, to get it right before the season starts.”
The Kings will travel to Portland, Oregon for their second preseason game on Friday.
