A wide range of items are on sale for the event, with some of the best deals typically available for Amazon-owned products such as Kindle tablets and smart speakers.

WASHINGTON — Amazon will kick off its 2025 Prime Big Deal Days promotion on Tuesday, starting a two-day countdown for deals across the online retailer’s site.

The major savings event is considered Amazon’s fall “Prime Day,” coming a few months after the company’s annual summer blowout sale.

When is Prime Big Deal Days?

The Prime Big Deal Days event runs from Tuesday, Oct. 7 through Wednesday, Oct. 8. Sales will go live at 3 a.m. on the East Coast, while the West Coast will start seeing them at midnight local time.

The event is also a return to form for Amazon, which traditionally has held its Prime Days over 48 hours. This year, for their major sale in July, Amazon expanded it to four days.

It’s the third time Amazon has done an October “Prime Day” event.

What’s on sale for Prime Big Deal Days?

A huge range of products are on sale for the event, with some of the best deals available for Amazon-owned products such as Kindle tablets and Alexa-enabled smart speakers.

Smart-home technology is often at the top of “best deal” lists because they tend to be heavily discounted during sales, often up to 50% off.

A full list of deals can be found on the Amazon site.

Do you need Amazon Prime to get the deals?

Like all Prime Day events, Amazon’s latest sale is exclusive to its Prime subscribers.

A Prime membership is $14.99 per month, or $139 per year if you pay annually. It comes with free shipping on most products, and access to Amazon Prime Video and Amazon Music Unlimited, along with other benefits like cheap gas.

New Amazon Prime membership benefits

For those who aren’t already subscribed to Amazon Prime, the company is offering some new membership perks in an effort to entice younger shoppers and consumers wary of spending with looming tariffs set to take effect.

Amazon says 18-24-year-olds and students can get 5% cash back on their purchases as well as a six-month free trial. They’ll also pay $7.49 per month for Prime instead of the $14.99 that older customers pay.

October Prime Day competitor sales

Several major retailers will be running their own sales around the same time as Amazon’s October Prime Day 2025. The slate of competing sales includes Walmart’s Deals Event (Oct. 7-12) and Target Circle Week (Oct. 5-11).
