According to CHP, the investigation shows that a 2003 Volkswagen Bug, driven by a 29-year-old female from Sonora, was traveling westbound on SR-108 at an unknown speed.
The driver had slowed down to allow the Volkswagen to travel across the eastbound lane, where it went off the south road edge and overturned, CHP said.
CHP said the driver was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. Despite lifesaving efforts, the driver succumbed to their injuries at the scene.
CHP said drugs or alcohol are not believed to be factors in the crash.
