PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Applications are now open, calling on Portland-area artists to turn garbage into masterpieces for the forthcoming GLEAN program.
The paid residency by the regional government Metro, and other community partners, will select five local artists to take things from the dump and turn them into recycled art.

Artists living in Clackamas, Multnomah or Washington counties can apply by October 17. GLEAN’s website has more information on how to apply.
A jury will select the five artists chosen to participate. Aiming for a spring exhibition, each artist will receive a $3,000 stipend and be given several months to put together their art pieces using materials gathered from the Metro Central transfer station. It is a requirement that each piece is made with at least 95% of reused material.
