(KRON) — A 63-year-old bicyclist was hit and killed by multiple cars near the intersection of Miller Avenue and 16th Street in Oakland around 6:15 p.m. on Sept. 26.
The man was riding south on Miller Avenue when he ran a stop sign, according to the Oakland Police Department.
“The bicyclist was struck by a vehicle traveling eastbound on East 16th Street,” Oakland PD said. “The bicyclist then struck another vehicle traveling westbound on East 16th Street.”

Police gave emergency medical care until paramedics arrived and took the man to the hospital, where he later died of his injuries.
All drivers involved in the crash remained at the scene. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash at this time.
The victim of the crash was identified as Hector Ortega of Oakland. The crash remains under investigation.
