Sleep Token is a polarising band – you either love them, or hate them. Some aspects of the band are intriguing for sure, however there are other aspects that are less than appealing. And unfortunately, the fans of Sleep Token added to the list of unappealing aspects of their band by their unfortunate concert etiquette, injuring several people, and showing a general disregard to the general rules of a metal show.
Sleep Token fans are being put on blast in the Louder Than Life Bound 2026 Facebook group by people who are less than pleased in the way the fans conducted themselves. Fans have posted videos of themselves being dropped while crowd surfing, with another attendee posting photos of her in an ambulance after having a crowd surfer dropped directly on her head, knocking her out, and causing her to have a seizure while unconscious (not the same crowd surfer as mentioned before).
Another fan reported that she heard someone shout “Drop that bitch” in regards to another crowd surfer, and that “instead of helping, people were letting surfers fall hard into the crowd.” She then later stated that she went back to the ASL area where she “can’t tell you how many medical workers had to drag people to the medical tent. It was over 50 by the end.” She elaborated further that as a special assistance attendee, her view became obstructed in the ASL area, and she was unable to enjoy the show undistracted.
Her full post to the Facebook group says:
“I’ve lost a lot of respect for some Sleep Token fans after this festival. Crowd surfing is a completely normal part of rock shows. When you see someone surfing, you’re supposed to help them and be their wave to the shore.
The reason I lost respect is because someone shouted “Drop the b” and others joined in chanting the same thing. Instead of helping, people were letting surfers fall hard into the crowd. I was in the ASL area, and I can’t tell you how many medical workers had to drag people to the medical tent. It was over 50 by the end. Because of this chaos, I couldn’t even see the interpreter, and I was constantly distracted.
Here is the deal. If you love Sleep Token and want to be up close at the barricade, you need to accept the package that comes with it. You help the crowd surfers. You always look back for incoming surfers. You will stay busy helping so everyone lands safely and your reward is seeing your favorite band closer.
If you don’t want that responsibility, then sit on the lawn, stand on the side, or stay home.
Next time, instead of shouting “drop the b,” shout “be their wave” and help them land safely.
Rock on everyone and see you next time! “
Other fans criticised the hypocrisy of some fans etiquette, as well as their lack of movement and well, enjoyment, and that it was a noticeable drag, according to one concert goer who observed Sleep Token trying to start a pit a few times to no avail.
Honestly, while the Sleep Token community garners an even… tougher wrap than they already have, there is something to be said about concert-going etiquette in general. A lot of us didn’t get to experience live gigs, or normal life, for two years – some of us in the most developmental states of our lives. While that isn’t an excuse, it is a reason to educate those on how to behave at a rock or metal show, be kind when doing so, and emphasising that you don’t fucking drop crowd surfers.
